Presenting DYC’s first-ever Virtual Choir!

In early 2020, DYC members were working so hard in preparation for our concerts and for the Cork International Choral Festival, Maynooth Choral Festival and Feis Ceoil. One of our favourite pieces was 'Nader My God By U' and we were so looking forward to singing it. Unfortunately all of our events for this term were cancelled. We wanted to find a project that would give us a chance to share this incredible piece of music with as many people as possible, while staying safe at home. This was a huge amount of work for our singers and for Brian Murphy who produced it. All of our singers perfected and recorded their own lines at home and Brian brought the whole project together. We are delighted that you can hear our amazing singers performing this amazing piece and we were happy to feel connected to our DYC Family at this time.

Dublin Youth Chamber Choir won first prize in the National Youth Choir Competition at the Cork International Choral Festival 2019. Here they are singing ‘Under-Song’ by Séan Doherty. DYC is delighted to perform the music of living Irish composers.

In October 2018, Dublin Youth Chamber Choir and the Belfast Philharmonic Youth Chamber Choir joined together as the Cross Border Youth Choir. They were delighted to win first place in the Youth Choir competition at the City of Derry International Choral Festival. That weekend, they also recorded a Christmas carol for the RTÉ Choirs for Christmas competition. In December, they were awarded first prize in the Youth Choir category of this competition. This is their winning performance of Nyon Nyon in the City of Derry International Choral Festival.

The Cross Border Youth Choir, comprising Dublin Youth Choir and the Belfast Philharmonic Chamber Choir, recorded a movement of The Great War Symphony by Patrick Hawes. This work was premiered in the Royal Albert Hall on 9th October 2018. This is Cross Border Youth Choir’s contribution to the work:
